Chicago’s famous Rush Street is known for many things. From its famous shops and numerous bars and restaurants, it is a place visited by people from all over. From Michael Jordan to Ozzy Osbourne, many celebrities have considered Rush Street a destination spot. Known by many as the Viagra Triangle, Rush Street is a place to scene and be seen. The well to do are ignored by officers of the law, as they park their six-figure vehicles wherever they please.
One of the destination spots on Rush Street owned by Phil Stefani, is the famous Tavern on Rush. Opened in 1988, Tavern on Rush opened in the heart of the exclusive Gold Coast area, just blocks away from the bars and nightlife found on Division and Rush Street. Tavern on Rush is an upscale, contemporary American steakhouse, featuring a sprawling bar, multi-level seating and an outdoor patio. This Chicago Steakhouse is a “must-see” when visiting Chicago. This upscale, contemporary Chicago Steakhouse boasts an extensive menu of classic American fare, including prime steaks and chops, fresh fish, pasta and daily specials prepared by Executive Chef John Gatsos.
The bar menu also is as long as your arm. The wine list is a an expansive arrangement of wines from around the world. The bartenders know no boundaries as they conjure up cocktails that will never leave you unsatisfied. But what catches my attention is their spin on my signature cocktail, the margarita. I opted for the famous Cadillac Margarita. This one is made up of 1 1/2 oz Sauza tequila, 1 oz Grand Marnier orange liqueur 1/4 oz, and fresh lime juice.
The one that really caught our fellow Margarita Head companion, Jane’s attention was the Jalapeno Strawberry Margarita. This unique margarita masterpiece is made of muddled strawberries, Don Julio tequila, Patron Citronge, and jalapeno. We each took a sip and was amazed at the mixologists creation. This drink was the perfect combination of both sweet and spicy. The heat of the jalapeno was not overpowering due to the sweetness from the fresh strawberries. This drink is definitely something to look forward to while sitting on Rush Street in the summer on the patio. So if you are ever in Chicago put this spot on your list of places to visit.
